How to Compare Two Water Bills Correctly
1 min read
Comparing totals is the most common mistake. Compare the fields underneath them instead.
Compare like with like
Line up the number of days in each period, the volume used, the price per unit, each fixed charge and the sewer component. Two bills covering 28 and 36 days are not directly comparable.
Write down the difference per field
Once the difference is attributed field by field, the cause usually becomes visible: more volume, a higher rate, an added fee, or a longer period.
